SUMMARY:Impact of Code Refactoring for Heterogeneous Platforms to Performa
 nce Portability
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nMikko Byckling, Camilo Moreno, and Jacob Poul
sen (Intel Corporation)\n\nWe investigate how code refactoring of CLOUDSC
benchmark impacts the performance portability across different hardware pl
atforms and code revisions. For hardware platforms, we choose Intel® Xeon®
Processor CPUs and Intel® Data Center GPU Max Series GPUs. For code revis
ions, we choose Fortran with OpenMP, Fortran with OpenMP offload and SYCL
versions of the CLOUDSC benchmark. Besides performance, we discuss main ch
allenges identified in cross-platform comparisons and propose some possibl
e methods to resolve them.\n\nDomain: Climate, Weather, and Earth Sciences
, Computational Methods and Applied Mathematics\n\nSession Chairs: Michael
Lange (ECMWF) and Balthasar Reuter (ECMWF)
