SUMMARY:Bringing Data, HPC, and Socials Sciences Together: Computational
Social Sciences at the Barcelona Supercomputing Center
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nMerce Crosas (Barcelona Supercomputing Center
, CODATA)\n\nThe Barcelona Supercomputing Center (BSC) has recently launch
ed a new initiative on Computational Social Sciences which aims to prepare
the social sciences and humanities for the era of data and AI, increase t
he collaboration between social scientists and computer scientists, and fa
cilitate access to vast amounts of data and HPC for the social science com
munity. This talk will present the strategy, infrastructures, and initial
research projects associated with this initiative at BSC, and connect this
work to FAIR data initiatives led by CODATA for advancing science and add
ressing societal challenges.\n\nDomain: Chemistry and Materials, Climate,
Weather, and Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Physics, Computational Methods
and Applied Mathematics\n\nSession Chair: Michela Taufer (University of T
