SUMMARY:NeIC: Fostering Nordic Research E-Infrastructure Collaboration for
  Innovation and Impact
DESCRIPTION:Minisymposium\n\nAbdulrahman Azab (University of Oslo, Nordic
e-Infrastructure Collaboration) and Tomasz Malkiewicz (CSC - IT Center for
Science)\n\nDigitalization and the green shift are at the top of the EU's
research and innovation policy agenda, paralleling the Nordic Council of
Ministers' new vision for the Nordic Region to become the world's most sus
tainable and integrated region by 2030. The Nordic e-Infrastructure Collab
oration has been recognized as one of the vehicles for advancing and imple
menting this vision, through the development projects and activities provi
ding access to LUMI-supercomputer and quantum computers, benefiting from H
PC powered AI applications, training the researchers to make full use of s
oftware, computing, and data, and acting as a global role model for the e-
Infrastructure partnerships. NeIC has two major roles. The first role is t
o assume operational responsibility for the Nordic distributed Tier-1 faci
lity that is part of the Worldwide LHC Computing Grid (WLCG) that provides
computing and storage for CERN and is used by high energy physicists worl
dwide. The second is to jointly or collaboratively explore, evaluate, deve
lop and deploy innovative infrastructure services in the area of e-infrast
ructure and the needs of the national e-infrastructure providers, their us
ers and selected ESFRI projects of joint Nordic interest. This presentatio
n will provide an overview of the NeIC activities, and strategy for foster
ing collaboration on research e-Infrastructure\n\nDomain: Chemistry and Ma
terials, Climate, Weather, and Earth Sciences, Life Sciences, Physics, Com
putational Methods and Applied Mathematics\n\nSession Chair: Michela Taufe
